Nominated to Space Shower TV Music Video Award, Japanese artist SOUR’s innovative music video must have caught the eye of Pepsi. They “borrowed” the idea, but the result isn’t as great as the original. Take a look and judge for yourself.

Cabel discovered a significant change in the world of Japanese advertising. It seem that many of them have decided to abandon showing the URL, and instead recommends keywords to search for.

As more and more good domain names continue to be snatched up, it makes sense to have keywords which are shorter and more directly relevant to the promoted products. However, this is a double-edged sword, since it could also be more wieldy as Cabel pointed out.

But, I ask you: could this be done in the USA? Wouldn’t search spammers and/or “optimizers” ruin this within seconds? I did a few tests with major name brands and they’re almost always the top hit on Google (surprisingly, even Panic). But if Nabisco ran a nationwide ad campaign for a hot new product and told users to Google for “Burlap Thins” to learn more, wouldn’t someone sneaky get there before they do?

What do you think?

‘White Day’ (March 14th) in Japan is when boys give some gifts back for the girls that gave them chocolates on Valentine’s Day. Many Japanese companies have taken advantage of this holiday to market their wares. Nintendo launched their original white DS Lite on White Day causing a huge spike in sales. Even Apple got into the spirit by suggesting that men buy engraved iPods for their better halves as a way of saying “Thanks for the chocolate!”

Now Louis Vuitton Japan is now taking advantage of the occasion to market their brand toward brand conscious Japanese boys and girls with white roses… but not just ANY white roses. These Louis Vuitton monogrammed white roses are made of delicate white fabric and bears the distinctive LV monogram and symbols. This special LV rose is only available for a limited time and will cost 4000 yen each (about $35).

I guess a rose by any other name… just won’t do it on White Day.

Like their big screen inspiration, these pigs could be squashed, splattered, and completely destroyed against the floor, then magically regain their original shape in seconds, all thanks to its gelatinous plastic material. This amazing toy is only $3 in Japan. Wonder how this will look when you throw it at someone’s face?

If eating cookies isn’t your thing for achieving a larger chest, then try drinking some tea. From the same enterprising Japanese company that has been selling F-Cup Cookies comes F-Cup tea. Now, you can have some tea along with those edible enlargers.

We’ve all seen a ton of billboards, but none like this one. Adidas had a couple of real people being suspended by ropes playing a game of soccer live on a billboard ten stories above the busy streets of Shibuya, Tokyo.

The caption on the billboard reads: “People who control their passion, control the game.”

Now, that’s some amazing advertising.

I talked about the lifesize Gundam at Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park’s Gundam Crisis attraction before, but Mezamashi TV actually visited the 1/1 scale RX78 mobile suit personally.

Move over Pepsi Cucumber, there’s a new player in the oddly-flavored soft drink market. Kimura has released a Curry and Wasabi flavored sodas in Japan this summer. I can’t think of a better way to cool down this summer than drinking one of these beverages. Only in Japan.

A cool new store called Sample Lab opened in Tokyo’s Harajuku district. Here’s a video report about it from Fuji TV:

The store is stocked with a variety of products, all of which can be taken as free samples. To make sure somebody doesn’t come in and clean out the entire store, Sample Lab has a limit of 5 items a day per customer. In return, customers are asked to fill out surveys on the products they take from the store. The store itself doesn’t make any money from its products, instead companies pay them to have their items stocked there so that they get consumer feedback on their items.

For more details, check out the official site of Sample Lab (Japanese).
