I guess there are a few people out there who do care about the Miss Universe pageant as my visitor count skyrocketed since posting the pageant’s results. Majority of them came looking for Miss Korea, Honey Lee. So, I decided that it would be irresponsible of me to not use the opportunity that has been bestowed upon me – this temporary spike in traffic – by starting a new feature highlighting the finest Asian girls on the planet. Handpicked by yours truly.

Let’s begin things off with the strong contender for the coveted Miss Universe crown, the stunningly gorgeous Miss Honey Lee (24) (trans: Lee Ha-nee). Born March 2, 1983, she is a Korean Graduate student and gayageum player who represented her country at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant in Mexico City. Miss Korea missed out on the title when her interpreter did a poor job of translating her final question. Many believe the meaning of Honey’s answer was indeed dramatically changed from a humanitarian to a gold digger for having a fat endless wallet.

As unfortunate as that is, she still accomplished an amazing feat making it to the top 5 and having the world of beauty contests stand up and take notice of Korea once more. Congrats Honey.

It’s not all brains and good looks for this 5 ft. 9″ beauty. She also holds a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, an avid scuba diver, and a competitive skier. She has always wanted to be engaged in missionary work and is currently involved in volunteer work for UNICEF, Compassion and World Vision.

Miss Honey Lee had everything going for her. Looks. Brains. Passion. Too bad luck wasn’t on her side. There is always next year. Hopefully, Korea will make sure they get a better translator.
