Touted as “a stylish way to hug a tree every morning,” Cup Couture insulating cup sleeves are supposed to reduce paper waste by up to 10 pounds per year, assuming you don’t recycle the insulating cardboard sleeves that you normally get with your morning coffee. These $10 – $14 cup sleeves come in eight styles, three of which are animal patterns. Two of those, tiger and giraffe, are endangered and conservation dependent species respectively. The third pattern is chinchilla fur, which is often farmed unethically. Sure, the designs are fake, but they’re encouraging the exploitation of animals! What kind of environmentally friendly message is that?
